Bioenergy Infrastructure Group to raise £3,000 for children’s hospice

Bioenergy Infrastructure Group (“BIG”), an independent power producer specialising in energy-from- waste and biomass, is pleased to announce that it is undertaking a virtual cycle charity ride in support of the Claire House Children’s Hospice.

Using an exercise bike set up in the company’s head office in Theale, Berkshire, the team of 25 will cycle for a combined 1,400 miles – representing the distance connecting BIG’s seven renewable energy plants in the UK. The cycling begins in early June and is expected to take a month to complete.

A digital map will track the cyclists’ progress as they take turns to peddle along a virtual route, starting and ending at Theale, and passing BIG’s facilities at Hoddesdon (Hertfordshire), Birmingham, Ince (Cheshire), Widnes (Cheshire), Hull, Levenseat (Lanarkshire) and Evermore (Londonderry). Those members of the team who are based at BIG’s plants will also have the opportunity to contribute by recording cycled mileage and adding this to the overall target.

The Claire House Children’s Hospice is located in the Wirral, around 15 miles from BIG’s flagship Operational biomass to energy plants at Ince and Widnes. The hospice provides specialist nursing care and emotional support to seriously and terminally ill children and their families. It also operates over 20 charity shops in Liverpool and across the North-West.

BIG hopes to raise £3,000 and is inviting donations on here. Any donation, however big or small, would be appreciated. The total sum raised will be matched by the company.

Look out for updates on the BIG website and on social media as the challenge gets underway.
