Covid-19 – Our Approach

The COVID-19 pandemic has created massive and rapidly changing challenges and disruptions for our communities, healthcare systems and economies. At this point in time, no one definitively knows the extent and duration of the pandemic. In this environment, we believe clear and frequent communication to all of our stakeholders, both internal and external, is very important.

Therefore, we wanted to provide you with a brief update on our assessment of the situation and the steps we are taking to ensure that we can navigate through these disruptions as effectively as possible.

Our immediate and primary priority is to support the health and well-being of our employees and their families, business partners and the communities where our plants operate. We are keenly focused on managing our business responsibly and are following Government and Public Health England guidance and have measures in place to enable us to amend our guidance on a daily basis if required.

We understand the concerns and anxieties that everyone is feeling at a time of national crisis and ask everyone to be vigilant and supportive of their colleagues and neighbours during this period. Now, more than ever, our collective commitment to each other will see us through this difficult period.

The government has recognised the critical nature of BIG’s work, including both electricity generation and waste disposal in the definition of keyworkers. We are proud to be making a contribution to our society during these challenging times.

We will do everything we can to provide support through these difficult times. This storm will pass, look after yourself, look after each other and we will come out the other side stronger than ever.
Please keep in touch and let us know if you have any questions.

Best wishes,
Hamish McPherson
Chief Executive, Bioenergy Infrastructure Group
